It was not entirely unexpected. The rate of new COVID-19 cases in the county picked up noticeably after the holiday week. According to the Wyoming Department of Health, the number of new cases on Friday alone totaled 86. Health officials point to a number of factors for the increase, including gathering with friends and families over winter break and increased travel by residents and visitors. Meanwhile, the distribution of vaccine in the county continues with emphasis beginning today to be placed on residents 80 years of age and older.
